Hi, if you don’t know who I am then this is me, I am 16 years old and from Durban, South Africa🇿🇦. I have many hobbies like Swimming, Hockey, and Music (I play the clarinet).
My main interests are climate change, renewable energy, and helping reduce single-use plastics. I also enjoy wildlife conservation and marine biology.
This months newsletter is short and sweet! It is a bit late but rather late than never., so lets get straight into it.
Sport
Hockey
In my previous newsletters, I spoke a lot about how I went through times when I did a lot of work to get where I wanted to go but I felt like I was not getting anywhere, Well I made the Provincial team it was the Kwazul-Natal under 16 C hockey team. This was a big stepping stone to showing what I am capable of when I find a goal and set up to achieve it. We went on tour where we had an amazing time and won all our games scoring 36 goals and conceding 1 in total and coming first in the finals.
Swimming Galas
Appreciate the small wins!!
We all have goals
I have high goals. The saying '“Reach for the stars and land on the moon” explains this perfectly.
When you have high challenging goals there will be little steps that are needed to be taken to archive those goals, these steps are needed.
This month was a perfect example where I achieved great times, they were personal bests but I did not achieve my goals, we need to learn to look at things from different perspectives and realise that we need to appreciate the little steps as this is a sign of getting closer to our big goals. Without these little steps, you will just burn out. I would just like to say thanks so my swimming coaches Tracy and Abdul for helping me realise this.
Musical
We are getting ready for the 2023 Musical in August, I play the Clarinet. This is always a highlight of the year. If you can watch it will be worth it.
I will let you know how it goes afterwards.
My mum sent me this quote and I thought it suited for this month, and what happened in it.
This month has been a lot about mentality, what did come up was that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard, you need grit, passion, determination and unconventionality. You also need to know how to take constructive criticism without taking it personally. People like to express how they are feeling and share information, learning when and what to take for personal growth is very important in living life to its fullest and being present, stopping worries. It is also important to ask for feedback as it is the only way you will grow.
Hope you enjoyed reading and I will catch you in the next one.
