How much are you willing to sacrifice to reach your dreams?
The Fellowship is now over, but a group of us decided to go to some of the places that Silicon Valley is known for.
Stanford University
Today we went to Stanford University, this place is magical. When you are there you can feel a sensation of innovation and growth. It is an amazing campus with super friendly people. You feel comfortable and can even smell the roses. I loved every moment of being there. When talking to the Dario, the Silicon Valley Fellowship tour guide, he gave me some amazing insights and advice.
A little bit of info about Dario;
Dario went to University in Italy, he mentioned to the class that he was going to do something great. His professor asked him if he “had the balls to go and knock on the door of a lecture at Stanford University to talk to a professor in his field”, he ended up in February landing, SF ging to Stanford and doing that exact thing. He ended up connecting with that professor at Stanford and gaining amazing insights.
This story was cool as he shared what he had learnt about University in general and Stanford University.
Here are some pointer;
Harvard looks at your name, MIT looks at your intellect (marks), and Stanford looks at your innovation (what you do on your own outside of school). Dario also mentioned that Stanford is different to other universities because it focuses on application and understanding, not book learning. This is something amazing because in society nowadays it’s not about what you can remember but rather how you can adapt, solve problems and create solutions.
This is a place I would like to go, but it’s not easy.
“How much are you willing to sacrifice to reach your dreams” by Dario
He gave some awesome tips for getting into any university, 1) Connect with the professions, and create the connections so not only will you gain knowledge but you will have somebody who can vouch for you.
I am very lucky to be here in Silicon Valley.
“Use your luck to your advantage and use it to pay a tribute to those people that were not as lucky as you are. Show them that you are taking your full opportunity and advantage with that luck as many people would do so much to get the luck that you have” by Dario
Apple Park
Apple Park is an amazing place with technology that exceeds expectations. We went to the visitor’s centre and could see the famous circle where all the innovation takes place. I got to try the VR headset, this is like being in another world, describing what I felt and saw is impossible, you need to try.
Google
I know I am an Apple supporter but I had to go and see the innovation at Google. Google was just as good as Apple. With all the latest technologies and processes taking place to make our world a more efficient and easier place.
Last Dinner
Friday night was my last night there, where we had our final dinner with the group. The majority of the fellows were from Italy so they decided to make us Spegeti. The food was amazing and it was a great time together.
When it was time to go back to our hotels there was a huge element of sadness, I had to say goodbye to the people who had become my family for the past week. They were a group of people that changed the direction of my life. Although there was so much sadness there was an element of gratitude and happiness knowing that my life is on a positive trajectory, the positive influence that they had had on me and that I will see them again one day when we are all CEO’s.
Lessons Learned
If you do something that fires you up so much, nobody can be better than you
Don’t look at reality, be in reality
Create the Connections
If you want something so badly, you can only go and achieve it.
Constantly seek criticism, your friends know what is wrong (they can help) but they are scared they might hurt your feelings.
